Missing my bf, but...
My boyfriend is at a conference in chicago this weekend, and I was bored last night when I realized something.

I used to go out by myself, I can do it now!

So, I went to plush and saw a few decent bands. It was a cheap show, but pretty fun. (So were the drinks.) But I realized that I really don't have many friends left that I could call up and say, "let's go out!"

Most of them have their own partners (boyfriends and girlfriends) or have moved out of the city. It's more that I haven't replaced the hang-out friends I have. Those who are still here aren't the type to go out mostly, either due to money or temperament.

Most of my acquantances, now, are my boyfriends' friends, and none are the type that I'd really call up myself and look to go out with. (Well, one might end up that way!) I'm wondering if this is just a function of being a couple (and him being the one who has more social opportunities), if this is a function of me not being a social type in general (I keep my friends for quite a while, really.) - or is it me just not asserting my individuality and leaning on my boyfriend as a social crutch?

Personally I think this always happens until you realize it and do something about it. I was starting to hang out almost exclusively with my S.O.'s friends -- and I didn't even like them that much!

I'm glad I have you guys now, although I feel your pain. When I really want to hang out with someone it seems everyone's busy or has a life. I'd've been free to hang out yesterday. It's today that I have a study session. You can always call and ask. :)

Ditto this. Until we actually have kids, I'm always available to at least ask. Sometimes Craig's busy with some of our other friends, or just not up for doing something. It gets kind of boring, really, especially since we're the type of folks who are like, "We have nothing special to do, so lets stay at home."

I'm always looking for an excuse to get out of the house and do something fun. <^^> And since we just paid off our second-to-last credit card with our stimulus checks, money isn't quite so much an issue right now.

Damn, I've only been to Plush one time, too...Any other good bands coming up soon?

(Either that or there's always just a night out at Club Congress. Here's a secret: I've been dyyyyyyying to get all dressed up and go, but since Craig hates clubing, I still haven't been (except for that one time when we went to the bakery after a movie at Fox, but I've never been in the club portion). Maybe we could do a night out where it's a few of us minus the SOs, on purpose?)
